Rufus from our 2004 litter

Warm weather has finally touched this lovely port area so Ray Murdoch and his wonderful canine friends Molly and Rufus were all able to enjoy a stroll.  Ray reports that they are laying on the BBQ in their fine weather. Thank you so much for allowing us to share this photo Ray!

Rufus is from our 2004 litter. He and Molly try to keep their household running smoothly, or at least as they think it should run! Rufus has had some pretty huge losses in his life but has again found his person  and he keeps pretty close to him! 

Thank you Murdochs for loving him so much and looking after him so well! We are praying the sun will shine on all of you!

Maggie with her cats lives on Vancouver Island in her original placement home with her wonderful family. This photo was taken Dec 2013 by her family..thank you so much!

Rufus had to change homes this year due to a death in  his family. He is doing very well now in his new home on the lake in Ontario.  This photo was taken by  his family as he helped to trim the Christmas tree this year. 

Jewel, photo taken Nov 26, 2013 is the puppy from that litter that we kept. You certainly can see the family resemblance in these pups as they approach their 10 year birthdays!

Rufus is staying in his placement home!

In the video Rufus  is playing so well  with  the Bichon  Molly. The lovely  cat Digsby in the background watching the play. Rufus is fitting in to his new family. We are so happy he has found a family that love him so much. Thank you Ray and Judy so much for all you have given to him! Thank you Ray also for this video!

Rufus ( 2004 litter) has found his new family..it is confirmed

Our dearest Rufus suffered the loss of his  owner in early September 2013. With the help of Sylvia Dorosh,  in Ontario, we were able to locate a family that has worked hard to understand and meet his needs. Rufus seems to have created a wonderful bond with each family member now and today we received word he is staying with them. Rufus did have a hard time making the transition and dealing with  the loss of  his family and home but with love, he is blossoming now.

 Rufus and Molly now have a good relationship. Rufus has even set himself up as Molly's protector.  From his spot on the sofa, it seems Rufus has a pretty cosy life at his new home! We know he is bringing love and joy to his family and is receiving those things too!

We think that Jeno and Lesia and all his previous family members  would approve of this home for their wonderful boy.

Rufus (2004 litter) with his new family

 Rufus has been in a new home for a few days now. He seems to be adjusting to the family members although the house cat has been his hardest hurdle to accept. The family is use to dealing with dogs who have had some trauma in their lives and are taking their time getting him use to this new environment, habits and rules.  Above he and Molly are sharing a mat pillow in the sun rays.  They seem to have worked out their relationship.

On his first few moments of meeting Ray, Rufus attached himself and that bond has only grown over the time he has been in their home. Here the two 'guys' are both pretty happy with this first meeting it seems! Thank you Ray and Sylvia for the great photos!
Thank you Ray and Judy for taking a chance on Rufus and providing him with love and security he needed so much! It makes my heart sing to know  he is loved and safe.

Rufus ( 2004 litter) rehoming

Rufus has had a very hard last few weeks with the sudden and tragic loss of his owners and his lifetime home. It is nerve wrecking and so stressful worrying about him and praying he can and will adjust to his new home and family.

 I am so thankful he is in a loving family that shares his  daily activities and challenges so we know what is going on. Also, it is helpful  that the family appreciates that he has a wonderful heart and spirit. He is so  like his litter mates and his parents, so I hope he can find a place in his life for the household cat; the final hurdle in his adjustment.  

Once he is established in his new home ( hoping ), I will ask  permission to share some photos.

I cannot thank his co-owner and co-breeder Sylvia Dorosh  enough for all her help in getting him from his original home, offering him sanctuary, getting his vet information and check up,  and working so hard to secure him a place with a family. It would have been an even more terrifying time without her help! Thank you also to Corrine Sellars  who was able to offer him  several  days of support and take him to meet his current family..again, the dog family working together to ensure Rufus can find his soft place to land; I don't  know what I would do without your help!

I await the message that states Rufus will be staying in his new home but last word was it was 99.9% sure he was going to be able to stay and that he is greatly loved and admired there.  Not everyone can help a dog that has been traumatized but those who have that skill and desire are a rare and wonderful breed of human! Some will not invest their time and hearts in an older dog but those who can and do, are often rewarded with wonderful friends and companions.  

These are photos of Rufus as a youngster although all reports say he is a young at heart  9 1/2 year old now!

Rufus his first hours at Sylvia's. He had a bark collar on but Sylvia finds he does not need it now.

Rufus is part of our 2004 litter. He recently lost his owner and is now at Sylvia's in Ontario  awaiting placement in his forever home. It means so much to us that Sylvia has been able and willing to take him in, send photos of him, and help to place him! Thank you so much!

Busy times

The last couple of weeks have been very busy. We have also been having internet connection issues so a new lap top computer has been purchased in hopes that will improve chances of optimizing the connection within the house and at other venues.  For today, the public library computers are serving for this posting.

We have been getting lots of photos of Jax ( 2009 litter) Sam (2010 litter) and some of the 2012 pups who get together for off leash walks. I will try to get those posted soon when I can get a good connection and access to the picture files at the same time. I  love rural life but sometimes computer connections are difficult and annoying!

On Wednesday we became aware that  our Rufus, one of our 2004 litter pups,  needed to be rehomed due to the sudden  death of his owner. Fortunately the owner had made sure that his partner understood the importance of contacting us if something should happen to him. We send a prayer of thanks to  Jeno for  making sure that was known and to Inka for following through on his wishes. Sylvia Dorosh, co-breeder and co-owner of Rufus was able to go pick him up and take him to her home in Ontario.  If everything works out we believe that a wonderful home has been found for him with one of Sylvia's owners. It is very hard when such news is received and the fear that the dog may not be kept long enough to allow us to get it always makes these situations very difficult times. It is can also be hard on the person giving the dog up as they have had so much loss in the last few days. Rufus too has faced a complete upheaval of his life. We are so lucky Sylvia was able to pick him up and offer him the support he needs. She reports that he is doing well in this first day of his arrival at her home. It is a good reminder that those who may be left behind must know and approve of the need for a Blackbullet dog to be returned to us if it cannot remain in its home. We are so thankful that we know where he is and that he is well and will be placed in a  home where we can support him and his new family.

My daughter and her boyfriend came from NYC for a visit. We had outstanding weather so we could enjoy wonderful walks, BBQs and hours of patio time relaxing and enjoying our time with them. We were very lucky to have this opportunity and even though it is always too short, it was great to share those times with them.
