Sydney loves her toys and blankets

Our dear Sydney knows how to enjoy a cold day...drag 2 big stuffed toys up on the sofa and ask for a blanket cover and relax!

Jasmine from our 2007 litter is having some issues after she was lost in the woods but is finding comfort in her large teddy bear as her owners search for answers. We have high hopes she will continue to improve.

And Sydney from our 2010 litter loves a huge dog toy  too. When they are  young pups in their litters,  we always have large soft toys for them to drag around and sleep on so I wonder if this is why they enjoy them so much as adults.

Sydney soon had it back however and Sam used his new bear. They suck when they are happy. This has passed down from their great, great grandmothers, and their grandsire - we love to see that family thing. To see one on each sofa sucking on their toy later in the evening was heart warming.

I try to not get carried away with photos of dogs visiting but this time I am going to break that rule. Since Sam  came yesterday to stay for a few days, our Sydney has come back to us..what a blessing, what a joy, we are so lucky. To see her play and jump and bark again..it makes my heart sing and my eyes cry all at the same time.  The passing  of her mother Jewel just ripped the joy from her it seemed and although she had gotten  better over time, we had  not seen her act like Sydney..running and jumping, barking and  playing..such a joy for life is now back in her.

Sam, brother to Sydney is staying with us for a few days. He is such a lovely boy in his looks and in his temperament.

Judge Olga Gagne found Sydney in the group ring to award her second place.  It was a nice ending to our first show weekend since October 2013. 

Cold day photos taken today

Jewel seems to think that she who collects the most stuffies wins the day. Sometimes she will try to sleep on her stack of  treasures but often she just does it to see if she can get Sydney to want one of them.

Sydney seems to think one good stuffie to suck on is pure bliss. We love to see her do this as it takes us back to her Grandpa Remmie who was our first toy sucker.  Sydney's Grandma Amber and Mom Jewel never picked up on it so it is a special contact with Remmie we were happy to see. She is a contented sucker..only when she is relaxed does she do it.

We have 2 visitor dogs for 13 days of January so I have been busy with the camera since their arrival.

 Jewel (2004 litter), Mystic - Lab puppy, Sydney ( 2010 litter), Merlin - Black and white male Dal,  all wait for a bit of orange.

 Merlin and Wes enjoy the winter sun but soon Merlin is presenting his ball for a little play time.

Diamond, our Dalmatian, will be 15 in March. She really appreciated these last few days of warmer weather! 

Jewel was enjoying the winter sun from the sofa arm  so I did a head study of her. She will be 10 in February.

 Jewel also enjoyed a romp in the snow on these warmer day and with our visiting dogs.

First real snow

 Sydney enjoying the first deep snow fall of the fall.

There was so much reflection off the snow at 1 am last night, I was able to snap these  photos above.
