Goodbye wonderful Ruckus

It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to Wired Haired V Ruckus on Monday. Ruckus was Zöldmáli Bikfic NAVHDA NA, born April 1, 2004. He had had radiation therapy for a brain tumour last year and had been doing well in the last month regaining his mobility and zest for life. Unfortunately he was struck down last Friday with loss of balance and spasms and an MRI on Monday showed multiple affected brain sites.

Ruckus was the second WHV I worked with in the show ring and watched as his loving owner trained and worked her first field worked dog to his NAVHDA NA. I met him at about 6 months of age and remained close to him until the end.

Ruckus was a fighter in his drive to live. He was funny and loving, and an outstanding companion for his family. He was my Grandma's boy, and I loved him so.

Rest our dear one. You are so missed

Ruckus from our 2007 breeding of Bazsil wins

Ruckus won the Modern Dog photo contest! We are so happy he will go to a photo shoot and be featured in their magazine. I will post information when that is available for purchase.  I believe he had over 50,000 votes. It was very close in the last hours with thousands of people voting for the top 3 dogs. Ruckus pulled in front due to all the support from Vizsla fanciers around the world. Thank you to all who voted for him!

Rogue pups have all been assigned to their new owners

The final evaluations on the Rogue litter have been done and families selected.

Pat Hastings was very pleased with the litter in the structural evaluations. Only one puppy was not show quality in her evaluations. Her evaluations are very strict. The breeder has wonderful homes selected for all the pups.

All did very well in their temperament tests.

No puppies will be coming to Canada at this time. We had hoped one would be joining one of our families but a change in the family situation has changed that possibility.  We hope Rogue will be bred again in the next two years and perhaps offer an opportunity for a pup to come back to Canada.

Merry Christmas

We want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and holiday season! May the peace and joy of the season fill  your hearts today and throughout the year.

Angus from our 2012 litter on Christmas morning with his Christmas gifts in his new house! His owners have moved to their new home in  Stoney Plain. They have been very busy as they just moved a couple of weeks ago! Thank so much for so quickly sharing Christmas with Angus!

We didn't do a tree this year but I took advantage of not needing the dining room table to set up my village and manger scenes to celebrate the Christmas season.

Please give your animals a special hug to day! We wish you all good health and happiness.

Sherryanne, Wes and all the dogs and cats!

Hand made buttons for the last of the hats and scarves for this year

The last of the crochet hats and scarf sets were adorned with buttons made from trees on our property. Our Russian Olive, Lilac, and Mountain Ash tree branch trimmings produced lovely buttons. We also used antler horn tips to adorn another hat and scarf but I forgot to take a photo. The tips cannot be used for woodworking projects by my  husband and are usually just waste. We hope to expand our button production and ideas for next year.  I made some of the buttons moveable by having another button on the back of the front button. This works well with the open stitch pattern on some of these and allows for choices in how to drape and secure the scarf.

Time to start finding more patterns for next year's projects!

Fernie helping Postal Canada workers at the Santa Parade

Fernie is the loving friend of his 'Mailman'  owner. Today they are both working for the Post Office  at the Santa's parade where they will pick up letters to Santa from the children at the parade. I think he looks wonderful!

Fernie is a rescue dog. When he was dumped at a   vet clinic in northern Saskatchewan to be put down, I was called to see if I would take him. I was not able to immediately go get him but  I did have a puppy applicant who lived in Saskatchewan so I asked her if she could go.

She was able to pick  him  up and then made the choice to keep him as her pup. Fernie had many issues but a wonderful heart. With his owner's kind approach, he had been able to become a wonderful companion.

Below -  Fernie likes to lay around in his PJs when he is not being a Postal Canada rep.!

Thank  you to his wonderful owner for these great photos of Fernie! He is such a wonderful boy.

Ruckus from Bazsil's 2007 litter

This photo of Ruckus was taken a couple of weeks ago. Soon after he was diagnosed with spindle cell cancer.  Ruckus is now recovering from cancer surgery. He is doing well. We are all praying he will be able to recover fully.

We thank his owners for this photo and for all their dedication to Ruckus as they all fight to save him and give him a great life.

Latest litter photo

Rogue's litter is growing fast. The breeder is thrilled with the intelligence and beauty of this litter.  Rogue continues to be an outstanding mother. I am hoping their weather will hold a couple of weeks so the pups will be able to start going outside.

Big toys are loved by these girls

Jasmine from our 2007 litter is having some issues after she was lost in the woods but is finding comfort in her large teddy bear as her owners search for answers. We have high hopes she will continue to improve.

And Sydney from our 2010 litter loves a huge dog toy  too. When they are  young pups in their litters,  we always have large soft toys for them to drag around and sleep on so I wonder if this is why they enjoy them so much as adults.

Sam from our 2010 litter

Sam is enjoying our long fall with so little snow and warm days.

Thank you owners for these great photos!

Sam is such a great pup; a real gentleman but able to take a stand when  needed, loving and kind, smart and funny. We love you so much Sam.

Rogue taking a bit of a rest from her pups..not sure if the tongue thing is her lack of appreciation of the camera or not. Her owners report she is an excellent mother to  her pups.
