Quinn ( 2012 litter) becomes Blackbullet's Mighty Quinn NAVHDA NA Prize 1

I haven't had time to load any photos of the day but we are very happy to announce that Quinn, trained and handled by his owner Abe Suclin, attained a score of 110/112 and Prize 1 in his first field test!

He ran his NAVHDA Natural Ability test today in tough conditions with high temperatures and often no breeze to help these young pups locate the birds.  The test scores him for his ability to search the field for birds, to locate birds with his nose, to point and hold on planted chukars, to work with his handler in a cooperative manner, to track a running pheasant and to swim, return to shore and swim again.

With a little slow start on the  tracking that cost him 2 points, he then went on to find and follow the track and locate the bird with a stylish and sustained point. He was awarded full marks on all other aspects of his work today.

Thank you so much Abe  for working with him and giving him this opportunity to show his stuff! He follows in the footsteps of his mother and his maternal grandmother who are also NAVHDA NA prize winners!

Rogue - first NAVHDA title holder in 2012 litter.

Rogue in yellow collar and housemate Bond in orange waiting for Rogue's turn in the Natural Ability field test.

Rogue getting birdy just before her first point  in the test.

Rogue with her co-owner, trainer and handler Lisa Bender. At just 10  months of age, Rogue and Lisa were awarded full points  on everything ( pointing, nose, tracking, water work, co-operation etc) but search and desire where she was marked down  for not ranging as far as the judge's desire.

They scored a total of 98 points and were awarded the Natural Ability title . Congratulations team!
Rogue was locating, pointing and holding her points by 4 months of age and at 10  months of age is retrieving shot birds to hand. She works very well as a team member with her handler.

Thank you for the great photos and letting us know so guickly how you did..you know we were hoping for your success  and waiting on pins and needles for the report! We are very happy for you and we thank you so much for all the work you put into preparing Rogue for her test and loving her every day.

BPIG Blackbullet's Waltzing Matilda NAVHDA NA

Our Sydney from our 2010 litter has added another designation to her name. At nine months of age she has earned her Natural Ability field title, 2 Best of Breed wins and a Best Puppy in Group win after 3 days in the show ring. Unfortunately the hastily taken 'professional' photo taken of the BPIG win was not the right colour but I hope to have another one taken soon.

3 of our 8 month old litter at NAVHDA test

Introducing Blackbullet's Waltzing Matilda NAVHDA NA and Blackbullet Jewel's Kurri NAVHDA NA

'Thank you so much' goes to professional photographer Barna Tanko of Calgary Alberta for taking and providing these photos of my 3 - 8 month old Vizslas who ran their NAVHDA Natural Ability tests in August 2011. Barna is also one of the owners of the sire to the litter, Blaze, pictured below on the right with his son Sam.

Barna spent 2 full days walking the fields taking photos of all the dogs running their test.

Below, Blaze on left is sire to Sam on the right and the other two pups featured in this blog page.

NAVHDA training day

We had a great area and good weather for our June training day. Above Blaze ( Varazs Vizslas) has just caught the bird scent. There was also an Onpoint Vizsla that had a very good first NAVHDA training day too. A little more breeze during parts of the day would have been useful to the dogs but overall, the dogs and their humans had a good training day.
