Top Dog Award Certificate

I wasn't sure if CKC still sent out certificates for top dogs for a the year but today we received Syndey's Top Dog Award certificate. It is a nice recognition of her accomplishment!  She was undefeated in the breed, was always breeder/owner handled and was entered in only a few shows in the year.

Thank you Sylvia Dorosh for letting us use Blaze to breed with our Jewel to give us this lovely girl!

Chance, Kyber and Jasmine

On the left is Kyber from our 2009 litter with Chance from our 2007 litter.  They  have a wonderful home on Vancouver Island. 

Pictured below is Jasmine.  Also from our 2007 litter and living in BC, she too had a great family.

Jasmine's family reports she likes to stay in bed if she can..how come none of our dogs will do that..lol.

Birds and Squirrels

 We have been on our acreage for 17 years but had never seen a Pileated Woodpecker. Now we are so happy that we have seen this female several times at our feeders over the last month. 

When we moved here we had so many red squirrels we tried to protect the bird feeders from them. Then for years we had not seen any. Last fall we saw two on and off collecting spruce cones on both the east and west sides of the house. With winter we found we still have 2 and until we get squirrel feeders built, we are letting them share the nuts at the bird feeders. It is wonderful to have them back. This fellow seems to have a game of chase figured out with a Magpie where they take turns chasing each other; it is so much fun to watch.

Maggie with her cats lives on Vancouver Island in her original placement home with her wonderful family. This photo was taken Dec 2013 by her family..thank you so much!

Rufus had to change homes this year due to a death in  his family. He is doing very well now in his new home on the lake in Ontario.  This photo was taken by  his family as he helped to trim the Christmas tree this year. 

Jewel, photo taken Nov 26, 2013 is the puppy from that litter that we kept. You certainly can see the family resemblance in these pups as they approach their 10 year birthdays!

Cayo and Angus

Cayo stayed with Angus for a few days. Cayo is in front and Angus is sitting behind. Cayo is one week older than Angus. Angus is from our 2012 litter.

Cayo and his family are moving to Texas. We will miss them a lot but hope that family photos will still be sent. Cayo was bred by Dean Orozs.

Jewel shows off her new sweater for 2013 fall and winter

Jewel, born February 14, 2004 models her new sweater November 26, 2013.  She seemed to be happy wearing it, even standing still while I put it on her. With her is her current  favourite lamb toy she tries to keep with her when her daughter Sydney is not stealing it. 

Jewel is the second matriarch of our vizslas,  following in her mother's footsteps.  As she ages, we see more of her mother in her actions..those are bitter sweet moments when we see those things coming forward in her.

Sometimes it is hard to tell who needs the hugs the most..but Vizslas are willing to give and take hugs that come from the soul, any time.

Thank you for sharing these photos..as you noted, Jasmine's owner's, I can feel those hugs from here! Sending hugs to each of you!

Thoughts

Whether human or animal,  these seem like very good guiding principals  to me.

Zsofi, from our 2007 litter and Chester from our 2004 litter ( he is on the other side of the table) have welcomed a Dalmatian puppy into their home recently. Help her if  you can red kids and most of all, don't hurt her! Their owner reports they are all doing pretty well working out how to play and live together.

Zoro needs a new home update

This is a pup I would have in my home if I had room.  I met him at  a NAVHDA test  and fell in love with him immediately. He will make a great  household companion and hunting companion! 

Zoro was returned to his breeder, Dean, when there were household changes in his placement home.

Dean has now taken Zoro on several hunting days where he works the field with his mother and sister and dogs of other breeds. Zoro has shown great  skills and desire in the field and received many compliments from other hunters. He has also proven to be a wonderful household companion.

Dean is now thinking he  most certainly cannot part with him unless he is given an opportunity to work in the field as a hunting dog, so he has opened up the opportunity for a family in or near Saskatoon Sask. who can provide a wonderful home for Zoro and who would allow Dean to field train and work him. A schedule can be set up so that Zoro can have the best of both worlds.  

While keeping Zoro in his home is an option Dean has 

seriously considered and would love to be able to do, 

with two un-spayed females in the house he is unsure 

that his home and time can be set up to provide the best 

situation for Zoro.     This is then an outstanding opportunity for a person or family who lives in or close to Saskatoon and would like to offer a home to this beautiful, loving, intelligent household companion but does not have the time or skills for field work and hunting. 

The opportunity for those who do not live near or in 

Saskatoon is also available if you can field work and 

hunt with Zoro and have him as a household 

 companion.

A few show photos of our Sydney

We have been very fortunate  in the show rings lately with our home bred girl Sydney. She has always been breeder/owner handled all the way. She  has had a good show career to date. I don't have photos of all of her wins. I have stopped overlooking photo opportunities of group placements now. First day out as a puppy, she took BPIG, and then group 4th place as a puppy ( no photos taken). She finished her championship with a group 1 and group 4 in the same weekend at a large show to end her 2012 year. In 2013 she started with a group 2 at a large show ( no photo!!) and has had another group second, a group 3rd and a couple of group 4th place with very limited showing.  This past weekend she garnered a group 4th and made the cut each of the other days in large, highly competitive groups. She has earned 15 points towards her Grandchampionship status,  including the two-two point wins needed. She was lucky to take the breed on the two days we have had enough breed dogs to make for those two point grand championship wins. She is  undefeated in the breed judging since she was 7 months old when she was defeated one day by a male dog with a professional handler.

Sometimes you show and show and show and no one seems to notice. This past weekend people I really don't  know came to tell me  how lovely she is, how nicely I presented her and one person stopped me to tell me we looked so elegant and so much like a team in the ring..so nice to get some feedback that is not  putting down the placement of Vs in the group ring!

I know we have been lucky and in general I try to not get too involved in the points and show game stuff but I just wanted to take one day on our blog to take a look at some of  this over $450.00 worth of photos - one reason I have not taken photos of each group placement at first..and, most importantly, to  thank my lucky stars and my wonderful Sydney girl..a star in our hearts, the field and the ring.

Rogue - 2012 litter back in the hunting field

Rogue and her house mate Bond  had a fun day in the field. This is Rogue giving it her all. They located 4 birds but were not able to hold them for the shots.  Green grass in Washington state...must be nice...lol. Thank you for sharing your day in the field!

Jasmine ( 2007 litter)

Jasmine from our 2007 litter recently moved back to BC. We really miss her and all of her family a lot but we know that  many things have to be weighed and these photos of Jasmine show she has found a great place to run and play!

Thank you so much for the photos!  She reminds me so much of her grandmother Amber in this last photo.

Rufus is staying in his placement home!

In the video Rufus  is playing so well  with  the Bichon  Molly. The lovely  cat Digsby in the background watching the play. Rufus is fitting in to his new family. We are so happy he has found a family that love him so much. Thank you Ray and Judy so much for all you have given to him! Thank you Ray also for this video!

Remi (2012 litter) family photo

Remi ( 2012 litter) has a wonderful and loving family. This lovely fall photo is truly a family photo capturing each member so wonderfully in the  colours of fall. Thank you so much for sharing it with us; it brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart.

Homes still being considered for Zoro

Zoro, a CKC and NAVHDA registered and NAVHDA NA titled male dog needs a new home. He is 15 months old.

He was bred by Dean Orosz of Saskatchewan. I met him at the recent NAVHDA tests and found him to be a lovely and wonderful pup. If I had room in my house, he would  be a dog I would want. Dean is looking for a home wanting a loving household  companion and hunting dog and/or hunt testing dog.  Zoro also has the attributes of a nice show dog and would likely do well there also.

Rufus ( 2004 litter) has found his new family..it is confirmed

Our dearest Rufus suffered the loss of his  owner in early September 2013. With the help of Sylvia Dorosh,  in Ontario, we were able to locate a family that has worked hard to understand and meet his needs. Rufus seems to have created a wonderful bond with each family member now and today we received word he is staying with them. Rufus did have a hard time making the transition and dealing with  the loss of  his family and home but with love, he is blossoming now. 

 Rufus with Molly and cat Digsby. They  have worked it out  so that Rufus can stay and join their family.

 Rufus and Molly now have a good relationship. Rufus has even set himself up as Molly's protector.  From his spot on the sofa, it seems Rufus has a pretty cosy life at his new home! We know he is bringing love and joy to his family and is receiving those things too!

We think that Jeno and Lesia and all his previous family members  would approve of this home for their wonderful boy.
