Mocha Bean - 1999 litter

This is a walk down a little memory lane with our Mocha Bean.  Mocha was born in our last Dalmatian breeding in 1999. She had a solid patch of colour - liver, which made her a dog not able to be shown. We kept her however because she has great form, gait and conformation. At that time, I hoped to be able to breed her but it never happened.

In 2007 Mocha suffered a stroke that took all control and weight bearing from her back end. This is a photo of her at that time.  I became her back legs. I wheel barrow walked her to get around holding up her back end while she walked on her front legs and I exercised her back legs. She fought so hard to get around, often dragging herself around even when I didn't want her to because of the skin damage it was causing. But in few weeks she was getting some movement back into her  hind legs and in a couple of months she was able to stagger around on her hind legs...and eventually she walked and ran well again. It was really a story of determination and strength. She had such a will to get around and she never complained. Some days my back and arms were so sore but off we would go around the pasture..it was such a team effort based on Mocha's drive and wonderful nature.

In 2004 Mocha with Paladin - Dalmatian, Remmie standing by Paladin and  sire to pups Jewel and Maggie just behind Mocha

Mocha - recovered from her stroke fully.

We lost Mocha in March 2010 to cancer.
